NO Fracking!

September 23rd, 2010

Hey Everyone,

This email has been circulating around and I wanted to share

” I am writing to inform you about a public hearing at 7pm tomorrow, Thursday, September 23rd at the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) offices in New Paltz on South Putt Corners.

Fracking our State Forests is part of the DEC’s new Strategic Forest Management Plan. This plan for our NY State Forests provides for leasing state land for natural gas exploration and use of water for gas extraction. These forests include 786,000 acres (but not do not include the Adirondack or Catskill Forest Preserves).

The comment period ends Oct 29. You can find the full plan at http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/64567.html
Let’s have a showing at the Public Hearing tomorrow with the demand that there must be No Fracking in Our Forests. Ever. ”

Recycling Club!

September 21st, 2010

Our second meeting was great! We took a look at photos from previous events that Recycling Club has hosted, talked about future events and then made a recycled arts and craft!

Take a look at people working at the end of the meeting:

The final product! Magnets made from bottle caps! Did you know bottle caps are not recyclable?  Throw them in the trash and then recycle your bottle!

Are you corny?

September 21st, 2010

All these ingredients are made from corn (and we are not talking that yellow kernel state fair kinda stuff) = high fructose corn syrup,  modified startch , unmodified startch, glucose syrup, maltodextrin, ascorbic acid, crystalline fructose, lactic acid, MSG, caramel color, xanthan gum!

WOW who knew corn was in all these types of food!
